Yes, there will be some differences in the brand and some specs here and there, but overall, the latter will provide peak performance. It goes without saying that more money does not always equate to better products.
But, given our financial constraints, we’d stick with these laptops for the time being. Below is a list of laptops from well-known brands. We chose them based on their performance, dual functionality, and other factors. However, because you’re here, we’d prefer to concentrate on the middle one.

A 14″ 2-in-1 laptop with an AMD Ryzen 5 4500U CPU architecture is all you need for lightning-fast multitasking. This thing’s benchmarks come before expectations. It is 90% more efficient and faster than AMD’s 2000 series processors.
On top of that, you get a dedicated AMD Radeon Graphics card that outperforms the Vega 8 card included in the 2000 series. Both of these should allow you to watch a lot of movies and media, study more intensely and immersive than before, and play light games with only 10% battery consumption per hour.
After all, Lenovo’s claim of a 10-hour battery isn’t so absurd. However, be aware that when playing light games like CS: Go, your consumption may increase.
I mentioned the form earlier. The 360-degree hinge on this laptop works like magic. You won’t be disappointed if you flip it over into tablet mode or use it in tent mode. I had no problems doing so, which may be why I kept it at the top of the list.
The construction is solid; it’s made of plastic but feels like some precious material. There is a vent on the backside, which can make a lot of noise for such a small and smart product. That bothered me.
I did, however, enjoy its screen. It’s not as bad as some claim, but it’s also not the best. By the best, I mean screens that produce complete black. This one performs admirably in that regard. The fact that you get a 14-inch 10-point touchscreen is drool-worthy in and of itself.
My stylus and touch have been responsive to the screen. There is no problem at all. The connectivity options are also adequate for the price.
2. HP Pavilion x360 – Best Convertible Laptop for Less Than $800
The new HP Pavilion X360 convertible laptop has features that are similar to the rest of the convertibles or 2 in 1 laptop. There is, however, a distinction. This laptop does everything while maintaining the trademark HP subtlety.
What does this imply?
Starting with the appearance, it has a defined look, but the designers have managed to avoid the dreaded “boxed” look. It has a dark interior that stands out against the silver lid. Your fingerprints would only be found on the metal hinges that connect the two. This could explain why it stays clean and crisp throughout your use. That appeals to me.
With an Intel Core i5 processor clocked at 4.2 GHz, 8 GB DDR4 RAM, and a 256GB hard drive, you should expect excellent overall performance. When editing a 4K video in Adobe Premiere Pro, for example, there is no lag. There is no lag when mapping lands on GIS, and so on. Even after opening hundreds of tabs, the laptop refuses to move.
However, the gaming performance isn’t all that great. The processor and graphics card combination must be held accountable in this case. Your expectations should not exceed playing mid-range titles with low to medium graphics at 40 to 50 frames per second. World of Warcraft, Evil Genius 2, Dungeon Defenders, and CS: GO have all been tested to run smoothly at these frame rates.
However, as the graphics demand increases, things become a little shaky. So, don’t do it. Apart from that, I liked how the laptop’s keyboard keys are not too small to be squashed or pressed incorrectly. They are, however, insufficient for fluid typing. I didn’t like how the labels are smack dab in the face. Surprisingly, the touchpad has a lot of space.
3. Lenovo Yoga C740
The Lenovo Yoga C740 makes up for the rest of the specs that it loses in the graphics card. Students, multi-taskers, and designers who want to break free from the usual shenanigans of desktops and other laptops should definitely consider this.
Gamers, you might want to look elsewhere.
The performance for multitasking is backed by the Intel Core i5 – 10210U processor that has a clocking speed of 1.6 GHz. You might think it’s not great but then look at the price point. I guarantee that it will deliver when it comes to editing on your favorite software, managing and playing media, and creating that everlasting art. After all, you’re getting 8GB DDR4 with a 256GB SSD with it – both of these are known to make the performance of a laptop snappy as ever. Lenovo has only managed to include Intel UHD Graphics as the graphics processor, which to be honest is not worth gaming. It will run graphics-intensive apps, though. No problem there.
What I like about this one is its backlit keyboard. It’s not like we find it in every convertible. There are limits to packing everything in a small unit. It is responsive and has a sleek feeling, but at the same time, the keys are not that flat. The backlight may sometimes feel as if it’s dim but that’s unit specific.
The overall feel of the laptop is futuristic but the design is nothing extraordinary. They haven’t even included a stylus in the package so there are limitations, as I said. Other likable things include speakers worth killing for, a touchpad worthy of a nod, great battery life, and a fingerprint that adds an extra layer of security. One most loveable features is its ultra-responsive touchscreen – a complete behemoth of a performer with zero strain on the eyes.
4. ASUS VivoBook Flip – Best 2-in-1 Lightweight Laptop
The ASUS VivoBook Flip has to be the best lightweight laptop at 3.3 pounds only. If you’re looking for a portable yet convertible beast under $700, you might want to check this one out.
Starting with the 2-in-1 capacity itself, the laptop comes with odd-looking hinges that might not seem to rotate 360 degrees at first glance. But the moment you apply some force backward, things start taking shape. I had absolutely no issues with this one in tablet, tent, or any other mode possible.
Besides, turning and bringing back the aluminum brushed chassis has a feeling to it. I can’t quite place it but it’s near to the word “luxurious”. That quite adds the premium feel you want out of your laptop. Coming toward its performance, it has integrated AMD Ryzen 7 4700U. If we look at the benchmarks, this CPU performs 90% better than the 2000 series of the same manufacturer. With a clocking power of 4.1 GHz, you’ll get snappy performance no matter what type of work you do on the go. I’m saying on the go because you get this kind of power with the portability I talked about above. Its ability to perform as a gaming laptop is not very promising as it houses AMD Radeon Graphics. But it is certainly not bad for casual mid to low-range games such as CS: GO and DOTA 2. Some might even compare its performance with the NVIDIA MX 150.
To connect to things, you get two USB 2.0 and USB 3.2 with an HDMI port plus a Type C. Type C does not support charging, by the way. But why use external monitors when their own display can cover 60% of SRGB? You’ll get great colors out of it plus the touch is super responsive. I personally loved the keyboard with only one grievance and that’s its small space key. Besides this, it’s backlit so that’s a win-win for me. What’s even better is its fingerprint scanner, reliable speakers for day-to-day media playing, and responsive stylus. Linux users might want to skip this laptop.
5. Acer Spin 3 Convertible Laptop Under $700
The Acer Spin 3 Convertible Laptop has integrated graphics but that does not limit its potential at all as a complete workstation. Imagine working full-time on a laptop that spins 360 degrees with ease, has a pen to help you shift your work from keyboard to touch, and has a blazing-fast CPU at your disposal. This laptop has that all. A true maverick that could bring your imagination to realization.
Those aren’t overstatements because this one has Intel 10th Gen i5 1035G4 architecture complemented by 8GB DDR4 and a 512 GB NVMe. The processor has an 8-thread 4-core make-up that boosts the benchmarks to the level where you want to hug the machine. I mean the 4787 Geekbench scores for the laptop are killing hot. You could easily switch between the likes of Adobe Premiere Pro and Lightroom, all the while working on 4K videos. The CPU wouldn’t budge and the fans would stay quiet even then. However, you might experience a slight lag when you move around the files too fast.
That might be because of its integrated Intel Iris Plus graphics card. The problem with integrated graphics is always a slower response than dedicated cards. Despite its RAM and processor, a little performance lag would be noted in some programs and a lot of games as I said. But that’s only a minute and not a big deal.
The touchscreen is responsive but the colors are a bit washed out when you compared it with a panel that ranges in a wider color gamut. While the stylus is a good addition, I’d only prefer it to be used for light works such as editing on Photoshop. On a heavy workday, you’ll get some 5 to 6 hours of battery juice. However, you can clock the GPU in favor of an extended battery, which means getting at least an hour or two more. To sum up, the laptop is reliable, well-built, and powerful.

The all-new, rather Newest Dell Inspiron 7000 laptop is as if it’s been made for students more than anyone else. It is efficient in every aspect, has a great body, and a battery that goes for hours. Convenience is the first thing that comes to mind when you’re looking for a laptop for studies. The laptop should be light, powerful, and conveniently working without any hairsplitting gimmicks. This laptop provides you with all that in a chassis worth looking at. It’s slim and smart – basically, part and parcel of what makes it a 2021 super attractive unit. Your peers/classmates would kill for a laptop like this one.
Besides being slim, it weighs only 3.7 pounds, which means you can carry it around to your classes or workplace without hurting your back. Plus, it’s only 14”, so it shouldn’t pose any hurdles when you want to carry it in a standard laptop bag. Coming towards its power, I’ve talked multiple times about how the Ryzen 5 4500U processor is far better than AMD 2000 series and Intel i7. For snappy multitasking, it literally obliterates every contemporary CPU just like that. So no matter how many tabs you’ve opened along with Spotify steaming plus premium video editing software, it won’t say no.
You wouldn’t have been able to get that performance if the processor wasn’t aided by the 16GB RAM. That should explain all the blazing-fast multitasking. Copying things to and from the SSD is faster than usual, too, as we’re talking about a PCIe hard drive that’s known to deliver.
Thankfully, the keyboard is backlit. This should give you leverage when you’re pulling a knight. I didn’t find anything wrong but some customers had an issue with the color contrast of the key labels and the color of the backlight. The touchpad, too, performs exceptionally. It is placed in the right place and has the right dimensions. It won’t hinder your day-to-day typing at all. Overall, I highly recommend this new addition to the Dell family for studies.
7. Microsoft Surface Pro 7
The Microsoft Surface Pro 7 isn’t your traditional 2-in-1 laptop. It’s a tablet with a dedicated keyboard. But please don’t degrade it just because I called it a tablet PC. For its form and factor, it packs a punch like no other. With a 10th Gen Intel Core i5 running its core, you won’t be disappointed when it comes to its performance. It has smaller transistors, which makes it power efficient and of course, faster. Backed by a temporary memory of 8GB RAM, you should expect to run your Google Sheets in one tab and a gazillion web-based programs in the other. This should help your professional life more than ever.
Fact that it has a touchscreen (thus, a tablet), you can edit your files, presentations, or documents on the go. You won’t experience any lag in the touch panel. The colors are reproduced beautifully as the panel covers a larger color gamut. However, all this richness is slightly hindered by its abnormally thick bezels. I mean why does Microsoft has to keep this design flaw, I don’t know. But what Microsoft brought with it is most welcomed. The Type C USB. Yes, finally the Surface Pro gets a USB-C. You can connect 4K monitors with it before your presentation, charge anything, or just plug your headphones during your flight to a business meeting.
Talking about moving around on flights, the machine is solid enough to be thrown into your bag without worrying about its well-being. Other improvements include speakers that play the sound to the front, faster charging, Wi-Fi 6 for faster internet, and a microphone that finally works wonders. Attaching its keyboard isn’t a problem at all.
8. HP Envy X360 2-in-1 Touch-Screen Laptop
The New HP Envy surely stands up to its name because when you are holding it in your hands to show it off among your peers, it most certainly makes them envy you for not having the lovely and compact laptop for themselves. The reason I say this is because of the fact that I generated my review through physical evaluation and stress testing it’s every nook and cranny and to my surprise, it shocked me because of how good the quality of its overall build was.
For starters, it has a 360 hinge which means you could rotate the lid all the way over to the back without feeling like you are pushing the boundaries and breaking it. The 15.6-inch has an impeccable color delivered with extremely needle-thin bezels which makes the screen even more capacious. Moreover, the premium quality screen even supports multi-source technology so you can place up to 10 fingers on its IPS panel which is pretty neat.
And since there is the possibility of physical touch onto the screen, HP made the IPS panel out of Corning Gorilla Glass NBT, so that it can withstand even the roughest swipe you can imagine.

What’s even more impressive is the fact that its 51Wh battery produces terrific results and delivers a runtime of up to 11 hours on mixed-use with WIFI turned on and brightness set to medium and even if ever find me out of battery juice, the HP faster charge ensures I get back to a complete charge in less than 40 minutes, splendid!
